Members' pressing and cider-making - October 27th

Members-only event: Pressing for juice to remove or leave in the communal cider. Also packaging last year's cider.

This event is for members only. Non-members wishing to come to the event should join first.

Location: Mosser (see directions attached). Time 10:30am - 5pm (approx).

We will be packaging last year's cider as well as pressing your apples for juice and cider.

Last year's cider

Those who participated in last year's cider making should come to collect their cider, even if they are not pressing this year.

All cider will be packaged into 10L Bag-in-Boxes unless agreed differently with me beforehand. For new "cider club" members the cost is £10 for the first 10L and £5 for each 10L after that. For those who have partaken before, the cost is £5 per 10L. If you have a Bag-in-Box from a previous year which is clean and sanitised then the cost will be less. Also there will be a reduced cost if you just have a serviceable box without the bag. PLEASE BRING CASH.

Don't forget that part of the deal is to help with cleaning etc., particularly for those whose contribution has been limited so far.

We only made 200L last year, of which 100L is ready for drinking, so first-come, first-served.

Pressing

If you want to take away your juice, please bring sufficient containers (600ml per kg of apples, or 1pt per 2lb in old money). Otherwise the juice will go into the "cider group" communal cider.

Cider group

Just a quick reminder about the rules of the cider group - full details are attached: You become a member by virtue of contributing apples, time, or both. The membership cost is paid when collecting the cider after fermentation and is designed to cover the cost of materials and equipment (the additional £5 for new members their first 10L relates to the investment in equipment).
