Winter pruning Scaleby - Feb 5th 2022

Our 2022 winter pruning event will be at Scaleby, north-east of Carlisle.

Our winter pruning workshop will kick off the 2022 programme and will be at two neighbouring locations in Scaleby. Scaleby is a small village 6.5 miles north-east of Carlisle postcode CA6 4LJ

The workshop will run between 11.00 am to 3.30 pm and take place in the orchards of two NCOG members, one a fairly young collection, the other over-mature (the orchard, not the member!). Members are asked to book for the event, and if numbers dictate, we will split the group between the two sites.

There is limited parking at both orchards so we will meet and park cars at Scaleby Village Hall (see picture), on the left as you enter the village from the Carlisle direction, and then we can walk to the orchards.

The Village Hall will be available for members to eat lunches and use toilet facilities during the day but, if the weather is good, we will be welcome to eat packed lunches in the orchard.

Bring your own lunch, warm and waterproof clothing and strong footwear.

There will be an opportunity to try out some of the NCOG pruning equipment – pruning saws, secateurs and tripod ladders - but please bring your own if you have them. We will try to spend a bit of time talking about tools and tool maintenance.

Booking is essential so that we can contact you in the event of any changes in plan - please sign in to "My NCOG" and book.
