Thought to originate from Cumberland sometime prior to 1934, though it was also grown in Clydesdale and claimed to be of Scottish origin, from where the specimen in the National Fruit Collection was provided. Early season dual purpose, pick and use September. Trees are moderately vigorous, spreading. Fruit large and heavily ribbed. Flesh soft and sweet with little acidity.
