There are few sights better than an orchard of apple trees in blossom on a beautiful spring day. To celebrate this, we plan to hold a "blossom day" at Mosser on the afternoon of April 27th. It could be a bit chilly, so you may need to wrap up warm - also wear sensible shoes. We will have some shelter if the weather proves to be unkind (although the forecast looks OK-ish as of 21st April).

There are over 100 trees of over 40 varieties, so plenty to see and talk about.

The event will be mainly a social occasion, but with an opportunity to

    • discuss orchard management (including orchard floor management), cider-making or any other topics of interest
    • orchard / cider barn tours
    • consider the merits of different varieties (40+ planted) in dealing with the Cumbrian climate
    • have a little "competition" for the best cake or other food/drink contribution - with a small prize for the winner
    • get your tools fettled and sharpened

    Approximate schedule is:

1pm: Arrival if you are bringing lunch
2pm: Tool sharpening etc. Please do not arrive late if you would like tools sharpening.
    3pm: Tours
4pm: Tea, cake (please bring!), apple juice / cider (and maybe some music)

Booking is requested so that we have an idea of numbers and can contact you if there is a change of plan.

Also booking will indicate your location on the map below - to assist in identifying possible car-sharing.
