Supposedly Westmorland origin, first recorded in 1934 but thought to be older. Early autumn dual purpose apple, pick from end August, for use in September when it sweetens to a dessert apple. Trees are vigorous, reliable and disease resistant. Fruit mainly green, medium/large. Flesh firm, tender, coarse, dry with a subacid flavour.
