Apples
Flower of the Town

COOKING

A rare heritage variety, this is thought to date back at least to the early eighteenth century. Like many apples first produced in Yorkshire's nurseries, it is hardy and strong with very pale flesh and a highly acidic taste. In appearance, the Flower is aesthetically pleasing, with a glossy, dark red, and fairly uniform skin. The apples are rather large in size. Grown as a dessert apple but use as such according to taste, as it can be sharp.
