Laxton's Superb is one of several offspring of Cox's Orange Pippin (x Wyken Pippin) which is easier to grow than its parent but retains some of the characteristic Cox flavour. The apples are often quite large (unlike its half-sister Sunset) and when ripe have a very good flavour. However, it can suffer quite badly from scab and the flavour is not as good as Fiesta, nor does it keep as long.
