Raised by the Laxton Brothers in their Bedfordshire nursery and first recorded in 1907, this apple is the proud owner of an RHS Award of Merit and was accordingly named for Baron Lambourne, the society's then president. Lord Lambourne is renowned for the quality both of its taste and aesthetic properties; being the child of James Grieve and Worcester Pearmain, it has inherited the sharp acidity of James Grieve with the complex summer flavours of the Worcester Pearmain. It is round, medium sized, with cream white flesh and orange skin over green, often with a russet flush. This apple is loved for its complexity and depth.
This is an average sized tree and will grow to around 3 metres on MM106 rootstock
