COOKING

A round red striped apple that is thought to originate from Kendal, Westmorland, sometime prior to 1958, but probably much older. Mid season cooker, pick from September for use Sept/Oct/Nov. Trees are weakly vigorous. Flesh greenish white, firm, rather coarse. Keeps shape when cooked with good sharp fruity taste. Nelson is thought to have been a local preacher.
