Red Devil is a showy and more modern apple cultivar, grown for its attractive blossoms and its strikingly crimson skin. It is well known for being the best tasting "Red" variety of apple, with a note of strawberries and a firm, white flesh that is often pink-stained. This flesh also makes pink juice, making Red Devil a popular variety for bringing to the fruit press. Red Devil are medium sized and rounded to conical apples, and the probable offspring of Discovery and Malling Kent. They were first recorded at a Kentish nursery in the 1970s.
