Thought to originate from the North-west, and probably Westmorland, sometime prior to 1883. Mid-season cooking apple, pick from September and use though October. Trees are moderately vigorous. Fruit large, green turning yellow with red flush. Flesh white, soft and coarse with a sub-acid flavour. Cooks to sharp juicy purée.
