Members Main Juicing plus Cider Packaging and Making - 01/11/2025

Juicing and Cider Making 2025 - Annual event for club members to use the club equipment to press apples for either their own cider making endeavours - or contribute towards the community cider. Or just to take juice away! (Members only: non-members, please join before booking).

It's that time of the year again when we get together to press apples in order to create England's most northerly juice and cider!

The Cider Club equipment is available to all members, free of charge, every year to process their apples. so they can practice the ancient art of cider making.

You have the option of either taking your juice away to enjoy as it is or making your own cider - or alternatively contributing to the community cider vat's for members to enjoy when it's all packaged next year. This latter option is a very popular due to the communal and social aspect of the pressing & packaging (and assessing!). For those participating in the community cider, there is a one-off joining fee (£5) and then £5 for each 10L you take to cover packaging and other costs (re-using bags and boxes reduces this).

This year's event is to take place on Saturday 1st November at 11:00 (morning session) and 13:00 (afternoon session). Packaging of last years cider will take place before the main juicing starts. Note the event is taking place on a Saturday rather than the usual Sunday this year.

We'll be pressing at Mike & Carmen Taylor's place again this year. The location is high in the hills above Wigton. The address is Thornthwaite Hall, CA7 8NG.

The venue will be signposted on the day.

To attend you'll need to make a booking for the day (via "My NCOG") - so if you could please do that - it'll let us know who's coming and when. It really helps with avoiding everyone turning up at the same time and having to queue.

If you can't make the date then watch out for further announcements for alternative juicing days. There's one planned at Glassonby - and Mark may run a late season one at his place in December. But please note this event will be the only one where you'll be able to contribute to the community cider vat.

Hope to see you there - even if you've only a small amount of apples to press.

This event is bookable - see details and book
