This relatively little known variety was developed in Scandanavia during the mid twentieth century (H Jensen at Balsgard fruit breeding institute, Sweden). It was cultivated in the hope that it would be both a hardy variety that could survive winter, and keep and store well. It is a medium sized apple, greenish yellow in colour, usually with a dark red blush. Its flesh is white and crisp, but relatively mild in flavour.
